I have suffered from depression for years and have been suicidal.
I have been sober for 3 1/2 years and still struggle with my inner critic.
I have come a long way.
As the saying goes, “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger”.

When one struggles on a daily basis with suical thoughts, anxiety, tearfulness, insomnia, drug
side effects, switching meds, etc, it seems so unfair that our brains don’t tell us – you are a hero,
you are so brave, you are the best. No, the brain says we are unworthy and inadequate. It
takes more work to recognize it is only thinking – not who we are. It takes a lot of energy,

The fear of judgement from other people, the fear of hopelessness for the future, the fear the you are no longer the strong, intelligent person you were. For me the hallmark is FEAR!
